Scope
This document describes the terms of reference for the post of Youth Development Co-ordinator (YDC). The role has been in existence since 1996.

Appointment
The BKA YDC is nominated and elected at BKA general meetings. The term of office is for three years before the post comes up for re-election. Any person whether a member of the BKA or not can be nominated for this post. Only BKA members can nominate people for posts. If the post is unfilled at the AGM then the BKA National Executive Committee (EXCO) has the power to co-opt someone. Please see the BKA constitution for the details of election.

Role
The BKA YDC has the responsibility for managing the development of Youth Korfball in UK to meet the BKA development plan, the specific details are planned and reviewed each year. The YDC is expected to set-up and manage a Youth Sub-committee to produce policy, and carry out the plan.

Budget
The YDC will prepare an annual budgeted plan and have this approved by the BKA Exco. Currently the budget is part of the overall development budget.

Specific duties

The YDC is expected to:

  1. Prepare an annual budgeted plan that is approved by the BKA EXCO.
  2. Set-up and Chair the BKAYouth Development Sub-committee to carry out the plan
  3. Attend BKA EXCO meetings to report progress, make policy and contribute to directing the sport.
  4. Prepare a 5 year plan with the BKA EXCO
  5. Prepare a written report for the BKA AGM on the year's activities and progress against the 5 year plan.
  6. Be the principal point of contact for Youth issues in the UK
  7. Plan & Manage the National Youth Day.
  8. Plan & Manage the Club/School Link programme.
  9. Provide support to the running of the Youth Cup Competition and Youth Counties.
  10. Manage & implement the BKA junior/youth requirement with respect to the National League.
  11. Plan & Manage inter area youth competition matches.
  12. Plan & Manage Avon Tyrrell Youth Summer Camp.
  13. To carry out other related activities as agreed by the BKA Exec.

BKA Youth Development (YD) Sub-Committee
The BKA YDC has the power to co-opt individuals necessary to carry out the plans.

Area associations have the right to second individuals on to the YD Sub-committee.
